Information in the Sheriff’s Blotter is gathered from the dispatch logs provided by the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office. No individual’s names are reported. And those arrested should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The following is a summary of activity for July 22-27, 2022

12:58 a.m. Merlin. The railroad reports a fire in the area with latitude and longitudinal coordinates, unable to provide further. The information was given to him by a train passing the area. 1:05 a.m. The location is pinning in the area of Merlin, down the canyon west of Rock Creek and east of Cresta Dam. The location was provided to USFS.

9:57 a.m. Meadow Valley. A caller reports their phone was stolen last night, possibly dropped out in front of her house. Family members are now receiving strange texts.

4:10 p.m. Graeagle. A caller reports that a physical and verbal argument is occurring. The caller said she and her daughter are currently separated in different rooms. The caller said that the subject has been drinking all day and is also verbally abusing her adolescent child. There are no weapons. The subject is intoxicated. The female subject was arrested on a charge of assault and battery.

6:17 p.m. Portola. A caller reports fire with flames on A15, the owners of the residence are unknown. The caller said that it is an ongoing problem with illegal burning at this residence. 6:41 p.m. Eastern Plumas Fire was paged. 6:51 p.m. The unit was unable to locate smoke or flames. They will continue to be on the lookout. 6:57 p.m. The unit advised the burn pile has been extinguished.

We have a “Tweeker Dan”?

6:53 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a male at the skate park was trying to cause an argument with a juvenile. The parties are no longer on the scene. It was a verbal argument only. The subject was “Tweeker Dan” in a grey shirt, short brown hair, on foot without a vehicle. 7:10 p.m. A deputy contacted the caller and was unable to locate the subject in the area near the skate park.

Ghosts of parties past raise cane

10:32 p.m. Graeagle. A caller reports that he heard multiple gun shots and people screaming. The caller heard three shots and nothing specific heard from the people screaming. 10:47 p.m. A second caller reports that a car is driving at a high rate of speed through the campground then shots were heard in the area. The vehicle is a dark red/maroon Cadillac, late 90’s, with unknown occupants near a group site at the top of the campground near Gold Lake Hwy. 10:49 p.m. The location was given to CHP coming from Portola. 10:59 p.m. The caller said the vehicle has returned to the site. All doors are open, and things are thrown all over the campsite, unable to provide a plate number. The caller will call back with it. 11:38 p.m. A Sgt. advised there is no evidence of shots fired in the area or anyone in need of assistance at the campground. The subject vehicle is very damaged. The Sgt. and a deputy will be on the lookout in the area and attempt to locate the subject. The caller requested forest services law enforcement officer come out tomorrow to the campground and have the vehicle removed. The vehicle will need a tow truck. The information was given to USFS.

10:54 p.m. Blairsden. A caller reports that the neighboring hotel room is being loud and having a small party outside the room. The caller said it is two men unknown if there are more. 12:46 a.m. A deputy advised it was quiet upon arrival.

11:52 p.m. Graeagle. A male subject was arrested two mile east of the Lakes Basin Campground on a charge of drunk in public.

9:22 a.m. Quincy. A caller requests medical service for herself. She is a 25-year-old female in labor. The caller was transferred to PDH. 9:23 a.m. PDH and Quincy Fire were paged. 9:49 a.m. Plumas 15 updated, patient transported to PDH.

How I spent my summer vacation

11:21 a.m. Johnsville. A caller reports an injured male at the swimming hole behind Johnsville Cemetery. The subject is a 63-year-old male with a possibly broken ankle. The subject is on the trail. The caller was previously on the trail with the victim. 11:26 a.m. SAR was paged. Plumas Eureka Fire and EPHC were paged. 11:35 a.m. CHP Air Ops advised they can assist and are on standby. It is requested they stay on standby until the patient is ready to be lifted. 11:48 a.m. Fire advised the victim is at the end of the trail. 11:58 a.m. Units advised the victim is approximately 300 lbs. CHP Air Ops are needed. 12:01 p.m. Medics advise will advise when the patient is ready to be lifted. It is very steep terrain. The helicopter is on the way with an ETA of one hour. 12:46 p.m. Medics advise the patient is in position for the helicopter. 12:49 p.m. Helicopter updated ETA is 55 minutes. 1:30 p.m. The helicopter is hovering. 2:36 p.m. The patient has been lifted and is on the way to the loading zone. 3:36 p.m. The patient is transported to Tahoe Forest via ground transportation.

2:50 p.m. Gold Lake. A caller reports her client is at the location (Gold Lake) and an agent with USFS is not allowing the caller to load their boat onto the truck and has one person detained. The caller is calling in for her client who is at the scene. The call was transferred to USFS but then the call dropped. The information was sent to USFS regarding the incident.

3:16 p.m. Taylorsville. A caller reports illegal campfires at Taylor Lake at night. The call was transferred to USFS.

Inquiring minds want to know

4:01 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports fire on top of the ridge. It is not near any residences, and it is at the very top of the ridge. The call was transferred to USFS.

4:24 p.m. Prattville. A caller reports smoke in the area of Hwy 89 towards the right side of the road about a half mile into trees.

4:49 p.m. Greenville. A caller reports fire in the area. She is in Greenville looking toward Chester and can see smoke. The caller was transferred to USFS. 4:55 p.m. The information was given to the unit on site who advised they can see a dust cloud in the area.

5:44 p.m. Greenville. A caller reports he is behind a stolen vehicle. The driver just pulled into a specified address on Wolf Creek Road. The vehicle was described with a female driver. The information was transferred to CHP and the information was given to a local unit. 7:35 p.m. A deputy advised CHP to handle. 7:33 p.m. A male subject was arrested on a charge of receiving of stolen property.

7:44 p.m. Spring Garden. A caller reports a neighbor is throwing things at the caller, metal containers, and glass. The suspect is unknown, and weapons are unknown. 8:23 p.m. A deputy advised it is a verbal argument between the caller and the neighbor. The suspect refused to give their name of speak with the deputy.

How about that right to refuse service?

8:29 p.m. Bucks Lake. A caller reports a group of campers are very loud and have a very large fire. The caller said the campers were warned earlier in the day. There are approximately 50 campers. The caller will be waiting at a specified location to meet with the deputy. 9:47 p.m. A Sgt. advised the campers agreed to keep the peace for the night.

Stuck in the “mud”dle with you

9:19 p.m. Chester. A caller reports he is stuck in the mud in a side by side and a pickup on the north side of Lake Almanor. A tow truck will be there in the morning, just wants the information on file. The vehicle is a Ford F150. The call was transferred to CHP.

10:28 p.m. Chester. A caller reports a neighbor is playing loud music. It is possibly a wedding party. 10:23 p.m. A deputy is busy on a traffic stop. 10:37 p.m. An additional caller reported loud music. 10:54 p.m. A known person reports loud music at a wedding a block away. This is a wedding event location, and this has become an ongoing issue of loud music and screaming. 11:21 p.m. A deputy will go when cleared from current call. 11:36 p.m. A deputy advised it was quiet on arrival, there was no one around.

Auto and alcohol do not mix well

10:41 p.m. Chester. A driver was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving with over a .08 percent blood alcohol level. The vehicle was towed.

11:43 p.m. Vinton. A caller reports a possible drunk driver, driving all over the road at varying speeds. No further information was given as the caller advised staying way back. The pickup is dark in color and was transferred to CHP.

2:25 a.m. Blairsden. A male subject was arrested on a charge of drunk driving on Little Bear Road and Hwy 70.

8:45 a.m. Chester. A caller reports a smoldering log off the trail at Stover Springs.

8:53 p.m. Portola. A caller reports an older blue Ford with wood racks is dumping pine needles. 9:19 a.m. A deputy spoke with the caller and advised the subject is dumping pine needles on his own property.

A tough lesson for all concerned

11:38 a.m. Little Grass Valley. A caller requests medical service for a child that fell into a fire pit at Little Grass Valley Reservoir. It is a 2-year-old female with a burned elbow and back. The caller said that the shirt burned into the skin. The child is alert and breathing.

2:32 p.m. Chester. A caller reports a scam call. The caller identified as a Plumas County Sheriff Office detective with the Warrants Division who was requesting personal information and to get a $2,000 bond and deliver it to Quincy today. The caller identified themselves by badge 7269. The caller did not provide information.

3:24 p.m. Greenville. A caller reports a traffic accident on Old Haun Road, the dirt road halfway to Haun Meadow Ranch from the 147 side. They are in need of medical services for a single occupant in a GMC Sonoma that ran into a tree. The call was transferred to CHP. 3:28 p.m. Indian Valley Fire and Crescent Mills Fire were paged. 3:32 p.m. CHP advised the victim’s husband is on the scene and will transport the patient to meet the ambulance at Haun Road and Hwy 89. 3:35 p.m. They request a helicopter to the loading zone. 3:44 p.m. The patient was transported to PDH. The helicopter can cancel.

3:35 p.m. Greenville. A caller reports that last night two males shot at deer in the area near the residences. The males are heavy set with backpacks on bikes. 6 p.m. A deputy advised contacting the caller. There is no known deer shot. The caller believes bullet fire came in her direction but unable to provide any evidence. Extra patrol was requested for two heavy-set males on bicycles.

3:59 p.m. Dixie Valley. A caller reports a possible fire near Lunker Point in Dixie Valley. The call was transferred to USFS.

6:42 p.m. Greenville. CHP is with a subject on Wolf Creek with a warrant out of Lassen County. 6:49 p.m. CHP advises additional charges, possession of drugs.

Big fish in a small pond

7:19 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports an adult male is at the park threatening his juvenile son. The subject is identified wearing a colorful shirt, shorts, and a baseball cap.  7:58 p.m. The deputy advises it was a verbal argument only. The parents showed up on the scene and were able to solve the problem.

9:25 p.m. Sloat. A caller reports students went to the area to float on the river around 2:30 p.m. and were supposed to be picked up around 6 p.m. at Red Bridge and they were not there when the ride showed up. Each of the three female subjects was in an inflatable tube. Attempts to contact the subjects via phone failed. 9:48 p.m. The caller advised they have staff waiting at Red Bridge still, but no one has cell service unless they drive to the Highway. The caller is calling from her office in Quincy. 9:56 p.m. Text messages were sent to the subject. 9:58 p.m. CHP Air Ops in Redding will contact around 6:30 a.m. For any updates. 10:15 p.m. The caller advised only one person has their cell phone with them. The information was faxed to T-Mobile for coordinates, but they were not found during a ping. 10:50 p.m. A deputy advised the subjects were located in the area of Fells Flat. 11:06 p.m. SAR is requested to meet at Fells Flat, Spur F. The victims are located but unable to get to them due to the steep terrain. 11:06 p.m. SAR was paged. The deputy said it will be the south side of the Middle Fork. July 25, they have been unable to get to the subjects. They will need CHP helicopter in the morning. 3:03 a.m. A deputy attempted to contact the caller to provide an update, left a voicemail. 6:12 a.m. The caller advised a group went out this morning and were able to help the three subjects out and they are back at their vehicle at Red Bridge. No further assistance is needed.

10:40 p.m. Quincy. A nurse advised a male came in to pick up a patient and is extremely intoxicated and driving the patient home. He was on the way to Green Meadows Apartments in Greenville. 10:43 p.m. The information was given to CHP. 11:10 p.m. CHP advised the driving was not intoxicated.

11:28 p.m. Lake Almanor Peninsula. A caller reports a loud party on Peninsula Drive on the patio, about 6-7 people. 11:58 p.m. A deputy advised speaking to a subject who agreed to keep the peace and go inside for the night.

Look ma! A new trick

1:50 a.m. Beckwourth. A caller reports he believes there is someone on his property. His dogs were barking so he went outside and saw several doors to vehicles on the property open. 2:04 a.m. The caller advised they located paw prints and slobber inside the vehicles and now believe it was a bear. They no longer request assistance.

4:45 a.m. Clio. A caller reports a carbon monoxide alarm is going off and the home owner requested a response. There is no alarm on file. 4:48 a.m. Graeagle Fire was paged. 5:30 a.m. Graeagle Fire located a propane tank leak in the garage. The tank was removed, and the alarm was reset.

The BBB (Bad Boating Behavior) put on a show at the resort

1:37 p.m. Lake Almanor. A caller at Lake Cove Resort and Marina reports jet skis in front of the resort riding recklessly. A large group of younger adults in two boats and three jet skis are the subjects. 1:57 p.m.  Per Boat Patrol the subjects were counseled and released. No further action was taken.

Over stayed welcome is actually a thing 

5:40 p.m. Portola. A caller reports he was letting someone stay at his house and now she refused to leave. The caller said she has been staying at the location on and off for over a month. 8:13 p.m. A deputy advised a civil standby is complete.

9:04 p.m. Portola. A caller reports there are several juvenile subjects at the store who are not supposed to be there, causing an argument and being “rude” to him. Several juveniles can be heard in the background yelling at the caller. 9:55 p.m. A deputy spoke to the juveniles who were given a trespass notice by the store owner.

9:57 p.m. Portola. A deputy requested a case number for a female who said a male subject has been dumping trash on her front porch.

10:08 p.m. Quincy. A caller is rambling on about the President and several Sheriff’s Office employees.

What’s the fun in that? Such a dangerous project

10:11 p.m. Lake Almanor. A caller reports he heard a loud explosion in the area. He went outside and saw a male driving a golf cart, with no headlights on, stop across the street and place a cooler on the ground and drive away. The caller believes the subject is placing explosives around the area. 11:36 p.m. A deputy contacted the caller who said he saw two male subjects drive away in a golf cart after dropping off a cooler across the street. The deputy located what appeared to be a homemade explosive. The property has been disposed of properly. 11:46 p.m. A deputy advised locating a second explosive in the park off Beach Road. It appears to have been the one that was reported to have gone off at the time of the call. July 26, 12:46 a.m. Refer to the criminal report.

8:18 a.m. Portola. A deputy received a report from a male subject that his vehicle was egged by known juveniles. The caller requests that the suspects be counseled.

12:31 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a blue car in a single car accident with injuries. The caller was transferred to CHP. PDH and Quincy Fire were paged. The caller advised it was possibly a drunk driver. The information was given to the deputy. 1:19 p.m. Plumas 15 advised the patient refused treatment against medical advice. 1:23 p.m. The deputy advised the subject was placed on a 5150 hold. 2:49 p.m. PDH requests a deputy to assist as the patient is being extremely combative. 3:40 p.m. The deputy advised the patient is okay now and the hospital will handle it.

1:08 p.m. Maybe. A caller reports their unit is requesting Animal Control. The caller reports an agent is out with two aggressive dogs. The best location coordinates were provided. 3:34 p.m. Animal Control advised a notice of violation was left on the vehicle and provided the location of that vehicle.

1:20 p.m. Graeagle. A caller reports that a subject at the laundromat doing his laundry seems suspicious but was unable to provide further information on why the subject is suspicious. The caller said that he found it odd that the vehicle of the subject has no plates. The vehicle is a 1970-80 red Dodge Charger. The information was given to CHP.

Call in abandoned ice chests in Chester

2:10 p.m. Chester. A caller reports that he located a small green ice chest off the road behind the Chester dump. The caller said it appears that the contents of the chest are possibly drug related. 4:28 p.m. A deputy advised to refer to the criminal report.

3:44 p.m. Lake Almanor. A caller reports her iPhone SE was stolen while in the Hamilton Branch area. She last had it while fishing but now can see it is in Fresno.

7:10 p.m. Portola. A caller reports that he reported his trailer stolen on April 14, 2022, to the Sparks Police Department. The caller said his uncle saw the trailer for sale on Facebook marketplace in Portola at a specified address. The caller said that the subject sent the caller’s uncle all the info on the trailer via Facebook and all the info sent matches the stolen trailer. The subject selling the trailer was identified. 8:54 p.m. A deputy advised the trailer was recovered.

9:52 p.m. Chester. A caller reports a vehicle burning out in the road near Second Avenue. It is a dark Charger. The information was sent to CHP. 10:27 p.m. Units are out of position to take the call.

12:44 p.m. Beckwourth. A caller reports someone is stealing from their trash can. They do not believe it is an animal.

1:16 p.m. Chester. A caller reports while on his lunch break in the area he was pulled over on the side of the road and a subject drove up to him and blocked his vehicle in. The caller said that the subject had the caller roll his window down and started threatening the caller and brandished a gun. The caller said after a few minutes the subject left. The caller said that he may not have cell service due to returning to work. The subject was unknown in a white Chevy pickup (license plate was provided). 4:21 p.m. A deputy was unable to locate the subject in the area.

1:48 p.m. Lake Almanor. A caller reports that his boat has been disabled, unsure why. It is a black and silver pontoon boat with 8 occupants on the boat. 2:21 p.m. Boat Patrol advised the boat was out of gas, gave them a few gallons to get them where they were going.

2:23 p.m. Portola. A deputy advised the museum received a call from a known subject talking about train horns, satellites and parties.

4:38 p.m. Chester. A caller reports that she believes that the subject living at a specified address is neglecting his cats. The caller said that the cats appear to be very thin, and the caller is unsure if they have water. There are 10 kittens and 8 cats. 4:46 p.m. The call was faxed to Animal Control

5:31 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a subject is parked at the SavMor gas pumps intoxicated and drinking, and then left the parking lot heading eastbound on Hwy 70 in a tan Grand Cherokee (license plate provided).

Not in front of the kids

6:01 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports an ongoing problem with a neighbor who is coming on to her property and causing arguments. The subject left 5 minutes ago after yelling at the caller in front of her grandchildren. 6:22 p.m. A deputy advises the caller said it was a verbal argument only and requests the information on file only.

6:33 p.m. Quincy. A male subject was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol on Bucks Lake Road at Riverdance.

8 p.m. Keddie. A caller requests an ambulance for a male who fell off a tractor, with a possible head injury. The victim is alert. 8:02 p.m. PDH was paged. 8:32 p.m. One was transported to PDH.

8:50 p.m. Chester. A caller reports that two male subjects are walking around in the alley between Second Ave. and Third Ave. The caller said the subjects drove up in a white sedan then got out of the vehicle and were walking around looking at houses and taking photos. The caller said that one subject appeared to have a long thin object in his hand. 9:13 p.m. A deputy advised contacting the subject who were looking for a cellphone. The deputy also contacted the caller who was just worried and requested nothing further.

8:59 p.m. A caller requests a deputy go by his cabin to check if the door is open or locked. They are in Redding and the son is not sure if he locked up. 9:18 p.m. A deputy checked the residence and the front door, and all windows are secure.

Not quite “saved” or Looking for salvation

9:04 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a newer black Dodge Ram going over 100 mph back and forth on Bell Lane and Lee Road. The information was given to CHP, a deputy, and a Sgt. 9:08 p.m. The caller advised the subject turned around and is now parked in the Fellowship Church parking lot. 10:10 p.m. A male subject was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level over .08 percent, and driving on a suspended license.

9:18 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports her car keys were stolen at Relay gas station. The store has footage of the suspect, and the caller is stuck there. 10:56 p.m. A deputy contacted a subject who said she mistakenly grabbed the keys and was on her way to return them. A deputy contacted the subject while she was in her vehicle on the way to return the keys. The property has been returned to the caller.

10:03 p.m. Quincy. A caller advised his wife just called and said a vehicle went into the ditch. The caller’s wife is on the scene. There are no injuries and both parties are out of the vehicle. The caller said that the vehicle is just blocking part of the roadway. The call was transferred to CHP.
